Singer-Songwriter Luke Sital-Singh Reflects On Belief On Atheist Anthem “Me & God”
London-born, Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Luke Sital-Singh opened his recent TED talk on songwriting with an honest proclamation: “I love a depressing song!“
His new single “Me & God” fits his tastes, but not without a fair amount of humour and wit to even it out.
“I was brought up religious. I’ve long said goodbye to it, but I still find it interesting to write and think about,” says Sital-Singh. “Do I believe? Should I believe? I’m an atheist, but there are many things I miss about those beliefs. It was cathartic to write.”
“Me & God” tells the story of making acquaintances with the higher power, as he reflects on his own beliefs. A steady guitar strum and Luke’s quiet lament make for a simple yet powerful combination, as his lyrics take front and centre.
