Funk Rock Duo King Garbage Share New Single “Monster Truck” Off Upcoming LP ‘Heavy Metal Greasy Love’
Grammy Award-winning duo Zach Cooper and Vic Dimotsis have contributed their production talents to the likes of The Weeknd and SZA to Ellie Goulding, Gallant, and Billy Porter over the years. Having shifted their own ambitions to the forefront, the pair have announced their sophomore album Heavy Metal Greasy Love is set for release on April 1st.
From the release is the latest taster, “Monster Truck”, a groove-heavy effort that bleeds the southern spirit. The song, which features the album’s title in the lyrics, incorporates the gritty, timeless sound of southern States soul and funk with a more unhinged and alternative attitude, as the pair nod to the eccentricity of the monster truck with flashy keys solos, sporadic percussion, and rustic vocals.
Here is a quote from the band’s Vic Dimotsis about the single: “Truck Nuts glisten off the back bumper, swinging low with challenging and poetic weight. In the American South, a truck is not just a truck, but an idea. Curiosity shakes its leathery wings in this Joel Seger Springsteen high test musical theater redline onesie, with stars down the sleeves, blow your tail feathers off type alpha Stevie Nicks with no intent on ever returning from said pyrotechnics“.
