Indie Folk Artist Hazlett Shares Expressive New Single “Please Don’t Be”
Australian-born, Stockholm-based indie singer-songwriter Hazlett has returned with his first taste of new music since his 2020 EP Thundering Hopes. Having recently signed with Nettwerk, the folk artist has shared his new single “Please Don’t Be”, the first from his soon-to-be-announced full-length.
“The song itself is one of the more raw moments of writing I’ve had in a while,” explains Hazlett. “It’s that nagging feeling of inadequacy I’ve had an ongoing battle with and the blunt emotions that come with it. Then it all comes to a head with the notion that a friend of mine once said “It’s easy to see someone moving on, but to see them falling in love the way they did with you… then that is going to sting a whole lot more.”
His expressive and rustic vocal tone brings out a warm layer of emotion, as he laments about the lingering pains of heartbreak. A delicate guitar and growing instrumentation add to the power of his candid lyricism.
