PREMIERE: Boston Singer-Songwriter Miguel Samuel Shares Latest Single “Utah” From Brand New Debut EP ‘Killers In Dior’
With his 4-track debut EP Killers In Dior out into the world, Boston-based singer-songwriter Miguel Samuel has shared the final single “Utah”. Intimate and candid, the lo-fi indie pop track is a combination of storytelling and minimalistic bedroom-pop sensibilities.
About the song, Miguel says: “I wrote Utah after meeting someone who’d been physically abused as a thirteen year old kid at a wilderness therapy program in Moab. I’d been through a similar program myself and had buried a lot of the memories. Writing the song was a way to revisit and reflect.”
His patient and delicate vocals mirror the cyclical guitar pattern, finding a pensive and introspective demeanour that is rounded out on each chorus through a lo-fi bass line and bedroom-pop bounce. There is a tangible coming-of-age melancholy in its melody and an impactful honesty in Samuel’s vocal performance.
