New Zealand Indie Pop Artist Taylor Roche Drops Retro-Inspired Single “similar feeling”

Auckland-based indie pop artist Taylor Roche has shared his new single “similar feeling”. Inspired equally by ’80s & ’90s pop artists such as INXS and Savage Garden, and his contemporary peers such as The Weeknd and Troye Sivan, Roche combines his melancholic vocals with uptempo synthesizers and cinematic production.

Composed in one day during a studio session with fellow New Zealand producer/songwriter Joel Jones, “similar feeling” dives into the idea of finding a familiar feeling with someone new. The mixed emotions of romance new and old come through Taylor’s youthful vocals and lush songwriting style. Elaborating more on the single, he shares, “It’s a journey that dwells on the idea that we sometimes never truly move on, we just search for the comfort of a similar feeling in someone else“.
