Vancouver Alt-Pop Artist Madalen Duke Drops Punchy New Single “Talk Back”

Since releasing her debut album Talking to Myself back in 2020, Vancouver-based alt-pop artist Madalen Duke has been busy dropping a handful of new singles and landed herself an opening slot for Post Malone during a recent tour. With plenty of momentum at her side, she has unveiled her punchy and bold new single “Talk Back”.

Madalen says about the track, “This song is about being whoever the fuck you want — about having that confidence in yourself and where you’re going. We have all grown apart from people in our lives because we evolve, want different things and start aligning different values. I’m such a different person now than I was four, five years ago, and I know that I’ve grown and changed for myself the entire way, not for anyone else. Whether it’s a relationship or a friendship, if you don’t grow with me, you’ll get left behind in the dust. Some people are uncomfortable with that, when you yourself know who you are and where you’re headed. The lyrics, “don’t talk back” in the song mean, ‘don’t tell me what I can or cannot do,’ because I’m the one who will write my own story, my own future regardless.”   

Her confidence and unapologetic intensity plays out in the electro-pop hit, lead by her velvety, yet commanding vocals.
