Art-Pop Artist Mauvey Returns With Powerful New Anthem “The King”
Singer-songwriter Mauvey recently released an empowering, alt-pop anthem, “The King”. The single marks the Vancouver, BC and London, UK based artist’s first release since his 2021 mixtape, The Florist.
“Throughout history ‘Kings’ (men) have been the most important people, the most protected people and the most respected people. I wanted to write a song tearing that apart. “The King” is a redistribution of power and respect to everyone, especially the immensely powerful women we have in our world,” Mauvey shares of the inspiration for the track.
Marked by melodic lyricism and mesmerizing bass and drums, Mauvey’s characteristic sound shines through the new track. Energetic and punctuated by the meaningful message of the lyrics, “The King” is both an easy listen and an impactful piece all at once. Clear vocals coupled with the seemingly effortless tracking deliver a strong track to mark Mauvey’s first release of the year.
Born in Ghana, West Africa, Mauvey grew up in the UK and Canada. An artist, performer and songwriter, he creates his own unique sound and style of alternative pop music, with reflective influences of Michael Jackson, Kanye West and Childish Gambino. Stay tuned for the upcoming debut full-length album, set for release fall 2022, and check out past releases here.
