Kentucky Indie Rock Trio Wombo Look To Fairytales For Inspiration On Upcoming Album ‘Fairy Rust’; Share Latest Single “Snakey”
Louisville indie trio Wombo have shared their third single “Snakey” from their forthcoming album Fairy Rust, out July 29th via Fire Talk Records. Penciled in as the album’s opening tune, the song sets the tone for the rest of the record, as the band delve into the power of nature and climate change.
“[The song is] about paranoia and delusion”, the band share. “Someone thinking everyone can see them losing their mind, when really everything is deceptively calm on the outside“.
Influenced by fairytales – especially the pioneering imagination of The Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Anderson – the aptly named Fairy Rust combines escapism and psychedelic indie rock for a mesmerizing listening experience. With its anchoring position, “Snakey” playfully showcases the emerging indie group’s playful guitar riffs and tipsy vocal style.
