Bear’s Den & Maisie Peters Team Up For New Single “A Good Love, Pt. 2” From ‘Trying OST’
Following the release of their new album Blue Hours earlier this year, UK folk act Bear’s Den have shared their latest single “A Good Love, Pt. 2” featuring Maisie Peters and lifted from the Apple TV series Trying season 3 soundtrack.
Unlike Bear’s Den’s usual oeuvre, the soundtrack was written to spec with Bear’s Den’s Andrew Davie writing new original songs to tie in with the storyline of each episode’s theme and narrative, working closely with the creator Andy Walton and directors Jim O’Hanlon (“Catastrophe,” “Marvel’s The Punisher”) and Elliot Hegarty (“Ted Lasso”).
Speaking about the soundtrack and working with Maisie Peters, Bear’s Den said, “This whole opportunity only really came about because of Maisie so we’re eternally grateful to her for that! We were asked to collaborate on her brilliant song: ‘I want you to change (because you want to change)’ for the 2nd series of Trying which was so fun to be involved in.
Without that moment, writing these songs would never have happened. It made total sense to us, because of that, for Maisie to be the first person we asked to collaborate with on the song: ‘A Good Love pt 2’. Maisie is such a brilliant artist, songwriter and singer and to collaborate with her in the studio was so much fun. She made a bunch of lyrical changes that were just amazing and her voice and style is so cool and unique. It was just super inspiring to work with her. A huge honour and such a cool and funny person to boot!”
Maisie added, “I had the most special magical experience making the soundtrack for season 2, so when the guys asked if I would be interested in having a small part to play in season 3 of course I said yes. I have been fans of theirs for years and as soon as I heard this song I knew I wanted to be part of it. Working with them is a dream and I think this song is a perfect blend of our universes, and the perfect way to tie up the musical world of Trying.”
With each act possessing their own softness and striking vulnerability, the combination of voices makes for a lovely release, both inside and outside of the show’s universe.
