D.C. Alt Rock Group Moozy Share New Single “Overanalyze”
During the pandemic, guitarist/singer-songwriter Dylan Rockwell and drummer Pat Gunning spent their time quarantined together working on music for their musical project Moozy. With an 8 song album in their sight lines, the pair tried their best to put their heads together to pump out the collection.
“We got pretty far on the full record, but ended up throwing it on hiatus because the tracks were growing stale on us”, Dylan shares. “It was at this point I started to write songs in a new way, building from drum loops rather than writing on acoustic guitar”.
From the new writing format came “Overanalyze”, the group’s latest release, bringing new life to both their sound and their upcoming project.
Dylan continues, “‘Overanalyze’ was the first of several songs that I wrote this way, and we were far more excited about these new songs so we quickly started demoing them. I was so inspired by this new way of writing that I was cranking out a song (sometimes two songs) per day for a couple weeks.”
Bridging ’00s post-punk with riff-heavy alt-rock, “Overanalyze” is an explosive and catchy rock tune that brings together elements of Queens of the Stone Age with The Strokes. Underlined with the band’s clear DIY spirit, “Overanalyze” is driving and melodic offering that rings clear long after its duration.
