Singer-Songwriter Sofi Gev Explores Her Worst Fear On New Single “Someday, Maybe”

Singer-songwriter/indie pop artist Hannah Lovelady, the brain behind indie songwriting project Sofi Gev, has shared her new single “Someday, Maybe”.

Deeply inspired by the likes of Birdy, Maggie Rogers, Coeur de Pirate, and Regina Spektor, the new single is a stripped back piano ballad, that marries her gentle vocal style with lush, orchestral instrumentation as she delves into the unsettling territory of intrusive thoughts.

“‘Someday, Maybe’ is an exploration of my worst fear – losing a loved one”, she explains. “I think it might feel like the ground disappearing under your feet. You’re suspended in free fall, looking for a safe landing that never comes. A dusty hollowness permeates your house, so you step outside desperate for some fresh air, but the feeling follows you like a headache. Not knowing what happens after death, you wonder if you might hear from them again somehow, but you also feel ridiculous doing so. The worst kind of isolation”.

Embracing the timeless qualities of singer-songwriters before her, Sofi Gev keeps things simple, yet powerful on “Someday, Maybe”.
