Memphis Indie Folk Artist Aaron James Shares Heartfelt Title Track “Nobody Really Makes Love Anymore” From Upcoming Album
Memphis-based indie folk singer-songwriter Aaron James wanted to reflect on the meaning of love and passion on his upcoming album, aptly titled Nobody Really Makes Love Anymore. Due November 4th, the 13-track collection delves into heartfelt and lyrically-driven musings on an array of emotions that coincide with relationships: sadness, longing, pondering, anger, and optimism.
“Nobody Really Makes Love Anymore is not about any particular relationship. It was written during a time where it felt virtually impossible to choose love, and it felt irresponsible to even search for it,” James explains. “I feel that dedicating an album to this emotion is almost my retaliation to that guilty feeling of searching for love in what often feels like a loveless world. I hope these songs can inspire and encourage people to choose having human experiences and not give up on love for the comfort of simulation.”
Leading the way is its title track, showcasing James’ organic folk styling. Outdoor sounds and gentle acoustic guitar strumming are mirrored by its accompanying visual, as the singer sits in an open field painting.
Meditative and delicate, “Nobody Really Makes Love Anymore” is a post-breakup anthem that reflects on the past and present while slowly coming to terms with the unknown of the future.
“I was feeling like the past heartbreak was supposed to be ‘the one,’ and when that thing died, I started to feel like along with it died this vision I had for what love could be in my life,” Aaron says. “I’m completely aware of how dramatic that sounds, but I have no problem articulating it because when you’ve experienced that connection with somebody where it just feels like you weave in and out and through each other it’s just a hard thing to feel like you can ever reach again.”
Self-awareness and self-reflection go hand-in-hand on the new single.
