Singer-Songwriter Jason Bajada Frees From A Toxic Ex On Serene New Single “Walt Disney”
With his new album Crushed Grapes due on September 23rd, Montreal-based singer-songwriter Jason Bajada has returned with his latest single “Walt Disney”. Co-produced with Connor Seidel (Charlotte Cardin, Matt Holubowski), the track brings forth elements of Sufjan Stevens, Fleet Foxes, and the gentler side of Father John Misty.
His candid lyricism shines with a graceful magnitude on the new single, as he reflects on the bittersweet end of a toxic relationship:
“Sweet absurd moments like spending your Sunday afternoon at Chateau Marmont eating pancakes, then going to open houses and visiting 15-million-dollar Beverly Hills mansions with your best friend”, Bajada reminisces.
“Making small talk with real estate agents. Laughing to tears under the California sun. Thinking life can be kind, and that melancholy mustn’t be so harsh. Like going to Disneyland”.
To translate his latest single into a music video, the Montreal artist reunited with Chedly Bouzouaia, who also directed the “Snake” video (which won awards at the Indie Short Fest and the London International Monthly Film Festival, in addition to currently being part of the official selection of the Holly Shorts Film Festival).
Depicting three friends wandering freely on the Californian coast, the accompanying music video keeps true to the lyrics, as elements of spontaneity, happiness, and nostalgic melt together through graceful and flowing shots.
