Guatemalan Cellist Mabe Fratti Releases Entrancing New Single “Cada Músculo” From Upcoming LP
Guatemalan cellist and composer Mabe Fratti today shared news of her upcoming album, Se Ve Desde Aquí. Set for release on October 14th via Unheard of Hope, the album will be Fratti’s third LP. Translated to ‘It Is Seen From Here’, the album’s first single “Cada músculo” is an introduction to the new collection of work, released alongside a video directed by Nika Milano.
““Cada Músculo” is a song where Fratti explores the metaphor of how the world is shaped,” explains Milano. “Every single part of your life, of a space, of our surroundings becomes automatically a part of you, of the way you experience and sense the world and how you transform along with it. In the video, the voice is given to a space (that appears to be empty) using the microphone as a symbol, making reference to the lyric ‘every muscle has a voice.’”
“Cada Músculo” – translating to every muscle – features Fratti’s vocals layered atop a building collection of strings. Discordant and haunting, the track has an uneasy feeling to it. Punctuated at points by synth, the instrumentation feels very organic, ebbing and flowing, tensing and relaxing as it plays out. The strings are arguably the focal point of the song, enhanced by Fratti’s lyrics but overall driving the track forward.
Se Ve Desde Aquí includes nine tracks, and is set to be a shift away from past works, which Fratti describes as “drier” in texture and “less protected” in regards to setting out emotions. A compelling introduction, “Cada Músculo” gives listeners a taste of the next album and Fratti’s new approach.
