Sydney Indie Pop Duo TIGERMARIE Share Nu-Disco Hit “Bad Friend” Ft. Becci Meijer

Sydney-based indie bedroom pop duo TIGERMARIE have shared their new single “Bad Friend”, bringing along indie singer-songwriter Becci Meijer to round out the feel-good modern pop single.

Inspired by ’80s Japanese pop and the pair’s nostalgic brand of bedroom pop, “Bad Friend” is an exploration of what it means to be friends. With friendships and relationships being put to the test during the 2020 lockdown, TIGERMARIE wrote their new single as a way to call out the more superficial and transactional friendships.

The band’s late-night indie pop feel and lo-fi jazz subtleties come through on the sparkling synthesizers and swift saxophone riffs, giving “Bad Friend” an uplifting energy despite its inspiration.
