INTRODUCING: Toronto Indie Pop Artist Benja Unveils New Solo Project With “Gone” Featuring JustJohn
Toronto-based guitarist Benja has found success as a supporting character for the likes of BadBadNotGood, Jonah Yano, and Joseph of Mercury. With a recent signing to Toronto boutique label Good People Record Co., Benja has launched a new solo project with his latest single “Gone” featuring rapper JustJohn.
With a lush, laidback energy, “Gone” captures the summery qualities of bedroom pop, while his dreamy guitar riffs touch on the world of psych-pop. Matching its carefree aesthetic, the accompanying visual is a colourful and lush pairing for his new single.
Speaking on the video Benja explains “The creative concept was crafted by Marco Moro, an up-and-coming director and filmmaker from Toronto. Based on the motif of clear plastic sheets to symbolize distance between two partners, juxtaposed with flowers and foliage, the video aims to paint a natural, candid and impressionistic picture of two people in love who can’t be together at the moment.”
Benja launches “Gone” this Thursday October 20th at a sold out party at 915 Dupont Ave in Toronto. He will be joined with friends Hodgy, Jonah Yano and more.
