Australian Singer-Songwriter Ethan French Shares New Single “same mistakes” From New EP ‘song sketches vol. 1’
Australian indie singer-songwriter Ethan French has released his new EP song sketches vol. 1. Aptly named, the 13-track collection is a round-up of song ideas inspired by the likes of Conor Albert, Tom Misch, and Jacob Collier. Currently attending the prestigious Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, French incorporates his technical strengths into his songwriting.
About its format, Ethan explains, “The conception of an idea has always been my favourite part of the creative process. With ‘song sketches vol. 1’, I wanted to crystallise this part of the process and share some of my raw ideas in the way that they were formed, without much between the initial idea and the final product.”
One particular track however, is a fully developed piece: “same mistakes”. Serving as the EP’s closing track, French is a wonderful glimpse of the rising artist’s talents. Dreamy guitar lines and layers of textures and arrangements fill out the song’s frame. With a strong stripped-down acoustic potential, French gives listeners a more meaningful listening experience as his release comes to an end.
