Los Angeles Indie Pop Duo Merlot Embargo Return From Hiatus With Lush New Single “Sticking Around”
Los Angeles-based duo Merlot Embargo, composed of husband-wife Scarlet and Geoff, have shared their first new release since 2020 with “Sticking Around”. After the lockdowns in 2020 and 2021, the couple (naturally) held back from live performing, eventually returning to the studio with a refreshed state of mind. Their new album is in the works for a release in 2023, and “Sticking Around” is the first taste of what’s to come.
Capturing the ebb-and-flow of tension and release, “Sticking Around” combines melancholic lyricism with dynamic indie pop songwriting, giving the song a relatable edge both lyrically and sonically.
