Alt-Pop Artist PLANT Shares New Focus Track “CRASHBANG” From Debut EP ‘Disquiet Dreamlands’
With her debut EP Disquiet Dreamlands out now, UK alt-pop artist PLANT has shared its closing track and new focus single “CRASHBANG”. Irresistibly catchy and rich with dance-pop energy and lush electro-pop production, the new release showcases the emerging artist’s strengths as a performer.
Speaking on the inspiration of the EP, PLANT explains “Disquiet Dreamlands is the setting where all the songs on the EP live. It’s a post-apocalyptic fantasy world, painted with neon colours and mystical landscapes. It’s equal parts delightful and alluring, with malevolent, sharp edges that will cut you if you’re not careful. Each song teeters along this precipice, veering between dizzying love and crippling overthinking; sweet dreams and nightmare.”
As for the single, PLANT continues:
“‘CRASHBANG’ is about how 2 individuals, even when sharing all the same experiences, are still actually living and perceiving 2 totally different narratives from each other. ‘CRASHBANG’ is the moment when those separate lines of experiences confront each other, in an explosion of difference. It mostly plays out a fear of mine, that in these collisions or fights, a relationship can be changed or damaged forever. Every fight to me feels like a terrifying ‘CRASHBANG’ to the heart.”
While disagreements are at its core, “CRASHBANG” manages to stay upbeat and lively, with inspiration from Robyn, Charli XCX, and Sylvan Esso woven into its spirit.
