Nashville Singer-Songwriter Mokita Unveils New Sound With Latest Single “High”
Following his 2022 EP Color Me In, Nashville-based singer-songwriter John Luke Carter (better known as Mokita) has shared his latest single “High”. Known for his emotional and personal songwriting style, the new release once again captures the heaviness of his lyricism and vocal style.
Stepping into more synth-pop and modern folk-pop, “High” is a dense and trap-influenced ballad about leaning into one’s vices and compulsion. About the song, Mokita notes, “The bottom line to all addiction is that it is a day-by-day process. And even after three and a half years there are many days where I still crave the very things that were messing up my life. I can easily romanticize the past and forget how much hurt and pain all those addictions caused.”
