Australian Indietronica Act Cub Sport Announce Upcoming Album ‘Jesus At The Gay Bar’; Share New Focus Track “Keep Me Safe”

Australian electro-pop act Cub Sport are set to release their fifth studio album Jesus At The Gay Bar on April 7th. Alongside the news, the group have shared their new single “Keep Me Safe”.

While their previous singles have ushered in a carefree dance energy, the quartet’s focus single is brooding and intimate, written as a letter to a younger version of oneself, while still holding onto crisp synthesizers and steady, four-to-the-floor bass kicks.

Detailing the secret teenage romance between bandmates Tim Nelson and Sam Netterfield, as well as the internal conflict Nelson felt in the period afterwards, “Keep Me Safe” brings a fresh sense of confidence to an otherwise stressful and confusing time.

I wrote Keep Me Safe about a euphoric but complicated time,” says Nelson of the song’s inspiration. “Shedding some light on it now feels like I’m validating my younger self and celebrating the magic in something I was so ashamed of at the time.

Dreamy instrumentation and whispering vocals provide a melancholic yet welcoming energy to the song, providing the upcoming album with a vulnerable and impactful single.
