Internet-Pop Artist Pacing Shares New Otherworldly Single “Aliens”
Katie McTigue, better known to her internet posse as Pacing, has shared her eccentric new single “Aliens”. Turning the genre of bedroom-pop on its head, the new single slowly ascends into a wormhole of instrumentation and vocal effects, as she repeats “things are getting kinda weird over”.
After the demo was showcased on the Dusty Organ Live Feedback Show Twitch Stream in the summer of 2022, the song went through a few small changes, including a feature from yours truly on keys, and New Jersey multi-instrumentalist Maddy Hellstrom on guitar.
“This song is so simple and fun to play, it really became a jam track”, Katie shares. “It needed to build, and there was just so much room to add stuff without it ever feeling like too much. I love how Maddy and Kane’s parts sort of pulse in and out, and then all the weird little violin and foley moments feel like some creature running by in the background in the dark and you’re like ‘wtf was that?’”
“Aliens” is also available on #veryjazzed’s third tape compilation, WAVE. The digital release is accompanied by an alternate version by the Boston-based producer and sound engineer sinclayr. sinclayr’s version is harsher, angrier; it pulls from EDM and electronica influences.
