Canadian Pop-Punk Artist Hollow River Shares New Single & Video For “Change”
Ottawa-born, Boston-based pop-punk artist Hollow River is gearing up to release his debut EP this fall. From the release is the explosive new single “Change” and its accompanying music video.
Inspired by the falling out with a friend, “Change” the pop-punk tune combines the frustration of conflict with the energetic feeling of relief.
Reflecting on their journey, Hollow River shares, “I had several old friends who had big dreams of being a rapper. Eventually, those dreams faded for them, and it became difficult for them to be happy for me after I became a rapper seemingly by accident. I had a teacher at Berklee who told me I had too many words in my melody and to cut some of the words so people could understand what I’m saying, but I thought to myself ‘but I like words’ so I dropped the melody instead and accidentally became a rapper. After I found my sound, some of my old friends got jealous, and it created a divide.”
High-paced percussion and gritty vocals give the song its momentum, as Hollow River and his band take over a living room for a live performance.
