Columbus Pop-Punk Act Manor Gates Share New Single “Smooth Cortex”
Columbus-based pop-punk act Manor Gates released their debut EP Nothing Changes Except Has To last year, and the trio have announced a new project is on the way. Leading the announcement is the first single “Smooth Cortex”.
Blending together pop-punk, math-rock, and emo, the splashy new track details the frustration that comes with watching drama unfold on social media.
About the song, the band share, “Emerging from the social media black hole that was the pandemic, Smooth Cortex was written about the frustration you feel watching someone else’s pity party unfold online. When it’s clear that person doesn’t really want help but wants only the attention, you’re left with one choice. Pour them a glass of cold milk and hope their bones grow big and strong“.
Anthemic vocals and energetic musicianship are at the song’s foundation, while the catchy guitar riffs and sing-along hooks round out its addictive quality.
