Steve Aoki – Neon Future
Undoubtedly one of the biggest names in electronic dance music and the modern music world, California’s party-king Steve Aoki has released the first instalment of his two-disc album Neon Future, complete with industry-leading features and huge party tracks. Aoki let his creativity and imagination run wild for the album, creating the concept of his “neon future”, opening the album with a spoken-word intro from inventor/futurist Ray Kurzweil.
Incorporating galactic sounds and a heavy use of synthesizers, the title track “Neon Future” is a strong start to futuristic party, leading into the unlikely collaboration with Fall Out Boy for “Back to Earth”. Essentially a Steve Aoki track with Patrick Stump’s vocals, “Back to Earth” is a sweet and simple EDM-pop song to fill up the track list.
Four singles were released leading up to Neon Future, including the biggest hit from the album “Rage the Night Away“ featuring Waka Flocka Flame. Big, bold and booming, the track has one of the best drops on the album and is Aoki-style throughout; the collaboration with Waka is just a bonus.
Groovy is an understatement when talking about “Delirious (Boneless)”. Already blasting its way through clubs across the world, the song has one of the most addictive hooks this year and will definitely be holding a strong spot on the charts.
Machine Gun Kelly lends a few verses for the third single “Free the Madness“, which features an energetic and bare-knuckle drop. “Get Me Outta Here” features Flux Pavillion, and slows down the party with the dense and dubstep-based track.
