Guide to RBC’s Ottawa Bluesfest – July 9, 2015

All five stages are in full function this evening, giving festival goers plenty of talent to explore, especially with the number of local artists sharing the stages. If you’re having trouble planning out your musical journey, or just curious about who will be performing tonight, here’s a helpful head start to make sure you don’t miss out on the best shows of the evening!

July 9: Day 2

River City Junction

6PM: Monster Energy Stage 

Local blues band River City Junction are known for their flavourful live performances. With solos, boogying, and loads of fun on the set list, they are a great way to start off the evening.

 

BlakDenim

7PM: Canadian Stage 

Nine-piece hip-hop/R&B ensemble BlakDenim incorporate funk, soul, and creative wordplay into their music. A hidden gem in the lineup, the local act are a must see.

 

Bobby Bazini

8PM: Canadian Stage 

DUSTY ORGAN APPROVED

Canadian musician Bobby Bazini grew in popularity after his latest hit “Bubblegum” found its way onto the internet. His latest release Where I Belong had the young star boasting his rustic, crooner style overtop his sugar-sweet soft rock sound, amongst more blues-flavoured hits.

 

Charles Bradley & His Extraordinaires

930PMCanadian Stage 

DUSTY ORGAN APPROVED

Funk/soul singer Charles Bradley & his Extraordinaires are perfectly named; their powerful, resounding musicality is extraordinary. He may not be headlining, but as the sun goes down, you will want to be spending the next hour and a half listening to his booming soul-filled voice and his talented band.
