Marcus Marr & Chet Faker – Work EP
Four days, four tracks.
That is all British DJ/producer Marcus Marr and Australian electronica musician Chet Faker needed to produce their new collaboration EP Work. The four-track record combines Marr’s acclaimed dance-driven production talents with Faker’s cool vocals for a stunning electronic effort.
Initiated through Twitter, Marr explains:
“[Chet] posted my song on Twitter. I messaged him and said thanks and a conversation started – all nerdy stuff about recording processes. Pretty soon we started exchanging song ideas in voice memos. He then suggested maybe we try and do something together.”
Both artists have been successful in the past few years, showcasing their versatility within their respective genres. Faker’s debut 2014 record Built On Glass and Marr’s numerous projects and remixes have been met with consistent acclaim and positive reviews; Work continues their streak.
Ranging from the Euro-house 7-minute opener “Birthday Card”, to the electro-pop hit “The Trouble With Us”, the combination of Marr and Faker is a gift for which we can all thank Twitter.
