Christian Dohber – Illusion (storm)
(If you like: Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, Bon Iver, Father John Misty)
Swedish indie singer-songwriter Christian Dohber has been sitting just below the radar in his home country for years now. The talented singer-songwriter has been in the circuit since 1999, and after a few years of living in the city, decided to move out the countryside – somewhere “to be able to grow [his] own carrots and with the freedom to take a piss right outside [his] doorstep, and more importantly, rediscover his sound.
After releasing his sixth studio album The Man The Myth The Living Christian Dohber last fall, Christian Dohber released his dramatic single “Illusion (storm)” and the accompanying music video.
Dohber’s rugged, soulful voice instantly captivates the listener, singing overtop a slow-burning, contrasting piano harmony. “Illusion” playful jumps between calm and serene, to dense and cinematic, as Dohber’s retreat to the country side comes through in the form of large, open instrumentation.
