Owen Marchildon a.k.a Purple Hill a.k.a Marchildon! a.k.a From Fiction….

Regardless of which name you choose, Toronto singer-songwriter Owen Marchildon has dabbled in as many genres as he has monikers: punk, math-rock, and psychedelic Americana to name a few.

Since recently shifting his focus from math-rock group From Fiction to his solo effort under his last name, Marchildon! (pronounced MARCH-IL-DON!!) is set to release his new full-length Night Screamer tomorrow and Dusty Organ has the exclusive album premiere.

His off-cantered personality comes through on the seven track effort with playful combinations of country, folk, and psychedelic bedroom rock. Marchildon! explains his shift in direction:

“I made a conscious choice when releasing music under contrasting monikers, and the disparity between these projects is simple. It allows me to explore different compositional dynamics and lyrical avenues. While Purple Hill has been described as Punk Inspired Americana, the approach with is Marchildon! is one outlines a country tinge that is both jangly and velvet inspired.”

His relatable storytelling and expression come through on tracks like “Hangover Helper”, and the frisky-springtime lead single “The Sunshine Makes Me Feel Perverted”, showcasing his colourful demeanour.
