Haley Bonar – I Can Change (Official Music Video)
With her highly anticipated new album Impossible Dream hitting shelves last week, American singer-songwriter Haley Bonar has shared the dynamic and beautiful new music video for “I Can Change”, one of the hit singles off her ninth collection.
Steady drums, and lush harmonies work together to propel Bonar’s angelic vocals to the forefront, as she sings about the dark hopes of escaping the internal feelings of panic and depression. Her light voice mixes together well with the heavy lyrical elements, finding an odd contrast that is both sweet and sharp. Bringing those characteristics to life, the new music video explores the thematic elements, as a father hopes to change his mind and soul, Bonar explains:
“I feel that the story is a simple but stirring narrative, jarring in its rawness and the terror that depression and panic can cause not only for the person experiencing it but for the ones around you. Carl Flink from the University of Minnesota’s Black Label Movement was amazing to watch work with his movers, and their involvement was crucial to the video, portraying the human struggle in physical form. Everyone involved did such a beautiful job, and I have chills every time I watch this.”
