Glass Forest – I Remember ft. Abby Wale (Music Video)
Music has been a timeless platform to express the often troubling complexities of relationships and romance. Filling in blanks with jealousy and insecurity, and struggling with remembering past relationships clearly are often negative consequences of falling in love.
Vancouver indie pop duo Glass Forest, composed of Nick Owen (vocals/keys) and Stephen Clarke (bass/beats), are continuing the medium’s tradition with their new single “I Remember” featuring vocalist Abby Wale.
Even before hearing the song, things are already a little more complicated.
“Since two of us [Nick & Abby] had previously dated, ‘I Remember’ was written and performed by two people actually going through this kind of situation. We tried to be as open and honest as we could throughout the writing process, as it’s written about a sensitive subject (jealousy) from two different perspectives of our past relationship”.
The indie trio find the fragility and sincerity in the song, and their mixed emotions shine through in the gentle electro-pop tune. Minimalist beats and synth chords drive the lyrics of “I Remember”, as Owen and Wale’s soft pop vocals bring them to life.
