Brett Newski & the No Tomorrow – Last Dance
Bringing together the subtle folk sound of the Midwest and the backhanded-energy of the ’00s alt-rock scene, Brett Newski has shared his new single “Last Dance”, and has come at the right time.
With the exponential change of the world looming over each new day, the Milwaukee songwriter takes on the struggle of remaining mentally strong amongst the chaos:
“‘Last Dance’ is realizing you can’t please everyone, and you certainly can’t invest energy into those who drain your battery. All you can do is put the horse-blinders on and focus on your own mission. Inject positivity into your peripheral. It comes back around. Let the shit-talkers, complainers, and energy vampires self-destruct.”
And pushing the negativity out of your life is easier said than done with the swarm of technology and communication running rampant in the current pandemic crisis. “Last Dance” is an ode to staying levelheaded and informed without letting the stress take over, as he sings “a dance with desperation is the last dance”.
“Last Dance” is off Newski’s upcoming album Don’t Let the Bastards Get You Down out May 1st. Listen to the single below, and head to his website for more music and to pre-order the LP.
As well, Newski has launched a new webseries called “Killing Time in Quarantine“, which is “music needed for comic relief in the time of COVID-19”.
