Social Animals – Get Over It (Music Video)
As we are all stuck sitting and waiting, finding music to share the burden is a small win. So the new single from Minnesota alternative rock group Social Animals came at just the right time.
Their new track “Get Over It” is anthemic ’90s-inspired rock single in the likes of U2, Savage Garden, and Rise Record label-mates Placebo, that explores the idea of longing for something or someone, and finding the strength to move on. Lead singer Dedric Clark explains:
“Missing someone can be addicting. Either you learn to live with that loneliness or you try to find a way to get over it. In this song, like scratching an itch until it bleeds just to find relief in a different type of ache, it’s trading one addiction for another. Even the comedown is a part of the hook, because it allows you to focus on that physical pain instead of the one that actually matters“.
The song’s captivating chorus of “Get lost get found, get over it” takes over and brings a pop-rock flare to the song’s already energetic demeanour. The loneliness of the song’s lyrics comes out in the music video, as the band plays in an empty, dingy apartment. Director Gus Black explains:
“We shot this back in August in an abandoned apartment above a recording studio in Alhambra, California. It was hot AF the day of the shoot but it somehow fed into the mood and tone of the video. The concept now seems fitting for the times were in…a band playing in an empty room while people sit around doing nothing, just waiting. Love this song and the band.”
Social Animals are releasing their label debut Best Years EP on April 3rd, and will hit the road with Best Coast in the near future. Head to their website for more music and information.
