Hailing from Lucerne, Switzerland, electronic duo LUMAE have been gradually catching the attention of the music world. With the help of their musical laboratory of keyboards, synthesizers, drums, and guitar, David Stadelmann and Alexander Graf create interstellar beats driven forward by influences of jazz, hip-hop, and ambient R&B.
Their debut single “White Smokker” encompasses all of that and more, as the duo add in layers of glitchy textures and ethereal expansiveness. With clear influences from contemporary artists like Flume, Disclosure, and RÜFÜS DU SOL, their sound finds a way to remain unique, bringing the guitar melodies to the forefront and leaning more into the realm of downtempo and lo-fi chillwave, as featured vocalist Norma J. Haller gives an angelic quality to the song.
“White Smokker” is off their debut Thoughts EP, which was released on April 3rd. The five-song release is an impressive first look at the young duo who are ready to unleash their potential on the world.
