Omar Apollo – Imagine U
It’s been quite a journey for indie pop artist Omar Apollo. Since releasing his breakout Stereo EP in 2018, the musician has been featured on Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, and now Dusty Organ. Plus, he made his late-night television debut with Seth Myers back in 2019. Apollo continued to create buzz with two new singles in 2019, and now has shifted the momentum into 2020 with his new track “Imagine U”.
Built on a foundation of lush synthesizers and bouncing pop rhythms, Apollo’s crooning vocals sweep across “Imagine U”, bringing out the fun, care-free energy of the song:
“I’m all about the feeling when it comes to music. The lyrics and melody came to me so naturally and I feel like free thinking is what’s missing in a lot of music nowadays. There’s a guitar part I played that’s pitched up as soon as the song starts that I love and when I first made the song that part was all I had. I was obsessed with it — I kept playing it on loop cause it felt so good to me. I was listening to a lot of daft punk at the time so I was really inspired by those themes.”
