Waiting For Smith – Long Life (Music Video)
After breaking his back in two places during avalanche training as a ski instructor, Harry Lloyd had an epiphany that he should dedicate his life to music. A year later, he eventually went on to form Waiting For Smith (named after their habitually tardy drummer Smith).
The clarity he found during his recovery shines bright in his uplifting folk tune “Long Life”. Bursting with personality and charisma, it is a rhythmic and toe-tapping understanding of making the most of your time on Earth. Jangling rhythms and swelling fiddle riffs help to support his encouraging words and fluttering vocal melody.
The accompanying music video was shot in Madrid just a few months ago, inspired by the quirky, symmetrical mind of Wes Anderson. Using colour, framing, and Lloyd’s personality, the song’s visuals come to life all on their own:
“I love his symmetry. He makes every shot look like a painting. You can’t help but take life a little less seriously after watching one of his movies. And that’s what I really wanted to get across with the music video, a sense of play.”
