Hannah Georgas – Same Mistakes (Music Video)
With three critically-acclaimed full-lengths behind her, indie pop songstress Hannah Georgas recently signed to indie labels Arts & Crafts and Brassland as her career continues to grow. She released a new single “That Emotion” back in March alongside the announcement, and has now added to her discography with a new track “Same Mistakes”.
Collaborating with The National’s Aaron Dressner, “Same Mistakes” plays with deep, melancholic tropes of drum loops, haunting slide guitar, and swelling piano chords. Georgas’ candle-apple vocals shine a ray of hope as she opens up about building off her past:
“Over the years I’ve been recognizing patterns and habits I’ve created in order to protect myself in situations that are difficult,” Georgas explains. “I’m becoming more aware of how much my upbringing has had an affect on me. This song was inspired by learning how to accept the past and recognize when things come up and trying to learn from them”.
Her lyrics of “I have a hard time going back / I’ll admit it I carry a lot of it after the fact / I grew up in a family of walls” start the song off with candid authenticity, giving “Same Mistakes” a captivating stance of vulnerability.
