Toronto Indie Pop-Rock Band MONOWHALES Share Remix EP & Donate Proceeds to BLAC
“RWLYD” (Really Wanna Let You Down) has seen a number of version from its creator Toronto-based indie pop-rock quartet MONOWHALES. The studio version and acoustic version were well received, and now they’ve recruited the help of 5 collaborators for their new EP: BEAT UP: The RWLYD Remixes.
Featuring Canadian artists Mute Choir, Daniel Adams, and Adam Blinov; and Swedish producers StoneBridge + Damien Hall, and Musicmould, the remixes vary from EDM, electro-pop, and deep house. Each remix has its own unique sound and energy, making it easy to forget they are all just different versions of the same hit song.
As well, MONOWHALES are donating all proceeds from streams of this release to BLAC (Black Legal Action Centre), a not-for-profit that delivers legal aid services to low and no income Black Ontarians (more information is available here).
About the release, MONOWHALES share: “We had a plan to roll this out over the course of the week but we don’t feel it’s right to take up too much space on socials during this time. That being said, we are incredibly proud of the work that this international team of artists created, and we’re happy to be able to use it to give back to the movement.”
