flyckt Wants It All On Latest Track “Instant Gratification”
Since breaking up with his band Urban Cone back in 2018, Swedish indie pop musician Rasmus Flyckt has embarked on a new project as flyckt. His debut EP Instant Gratification Pt. 1 is slated to be released on August 28th, and flyckt has shared the title track and latest single “Instant Gratification”.
Inspired by the bands break up, the new single uses club-heavy production and dense electronic textures to contrast against the song’s emotional backstory on the moody electro-pop single.
Speaking on the release of the new single, flyckt said: “After the breakup with my band, dealing with chaos and being generally unstable and confused, I started thinking about happiness. I think it’s impossible to be happy without love. But I also believe self-fulfilment is a big part of happiness. Instant gratification is a song about things I’ve been doing wrong. It’s about me and people’s urge to have more, and the struggle to find balance. I believe balance is key to happiness. It’s a song about being patient, and investing time and love into whatever you want to do with your life.”
The urgency on each chorus of “Give me everything / give it to me now” is accelerated with the crescendoing instrumentation, as the fluttering textures and piano clash with the pounding bass of the percussion. flyckt lets himself be vulnerable on the track and in the accompanying music video, adding to the song’s striking juxtaposition.
