Buddy Calls It Out In New Video For “Black 2”
As a follow up to his 2018 hit “Black” featuring A$AP Ferg, rapper Buddy released the sequel “Black 2” back in June. As an open commentary about Black culture appropriation, “Black 2” pushes the conversation forward in such relevant times, with ongoing exploitation and profiting from the social revolution and the Black Lives Matter movement.
Now, Buddy has shared the new music video for the single, celebrating Black life through historical references, including the Black Panther Party and paying homage to Spike Lee’s 1989 film Do The Right Thing. It’s flashy cuts and satirical demeanour accentuates the song’s socially-conscious vibe, professing both frustration and celebration simultaneously through West Coast bounce and hooks and the reoccurring “It’s a Black thing”.
