Dizzy Share the Dizzying Video For “Beatrice”
Oshawa alternative rock group Dizzy released one of the best albums of the year with The Sun and Her Scorch back on July 31st. The compelling record saw the band exploring more electronic-infused effects and labouring lyrics about breaching adulthood. From the release is the nostalgic breakup tune “Beatrice”, and the band have shared its visually capturing music video.
As a record, The Sun and Her Scorch is refreshingly candid and personal, as frontwoman Katie Munshaw put a lot of herself into the songwriting. For the new music video, the band decided to keep things genuine, performing live during the shoot to capture the essence of their band after time away.
Munshaw reveals, “The “Beatrice” video was unique to do because we were actually playing our instruments. In most music videos you’re meant to only pretend like you’re playing but Ryan was really keen on making the performance feel genuine- and after being apart for so long due to COVID we were stoked to be able to just hang out together and jam for a few hours. Having our gear plugged in for hours made the mirror room extremely hot and by the last take we were sweaty and tired and a little buzzed – so basically, we got our tour fix despite the looming pandemic outside the studio“.
The video brings out the song’s dizzying effects and ethereal sounds, as the circling camera brings in different angles of the band’s performance and captures the emotion of both “Beatrice” and Munshaw.
