Helena Deland Dives Into The Fountain of Friendship On “Truth Nugget”
Montreal singer-songwriter Helena Deland will be releasing her highly-anticipated debut full-length Someone New on October 16th. The emerging artist has shared a litter of new tracks over the past few months, including the album’s stunning title track. Continuing the streak of new music, Deland has passed along the latest single “Truth Nugget” ahead of the release.
Fronted by her angelic voice, “Truth Nugget” goes in for a closer look at friendships and close relationships; she explains, ‘Truth Nugget’ is about the distance that exists even between the closest people and how friendship involves nurturing the other’s solitude. It also touches upon how I experience my guardedness as being part of how I perform my gender.”
The dreamy single is guided along by a steady guitar groove that acts as a track for her voice to slide across as she explores the theme of not opening up. Acting as a hypnotic focal point, the accompanying visualizer accentuates the song’s fantastical feeling. Deland shares, “The fountain in a forest at night is what came to mind based on the sounds of the song, but metaphorically it stands as something beautiful, private feeling and reassuring that you stumble upon unexpectedly, familiar but exciting, the way friendship can be.”
Dip into the song below and stay tuned for Someone New on October 16th.
