Kiwi Jr. Sign To Sub Pop & Share Quirky Video For “Undecided Voters”
With the American presidential debate taking place tonight, Toronto indie rock group Kiwi Jr., composed of Jeremy Gaudet (vocals, guitar), Brohan Moore (drums), Mike Walker (bass), and Brian Murphy (guitar), have shared their timely new single “Undecided Voters”. The satirical song brings to light the nonsense and redundant back-and-forth commentary of real-life politics, bringing it all to life in the accompanying music video as two horse jockeys debate in a church basement.
About the song, the group shares: “We all know UNDECIDED VOTERS: democracy’s driftwood, the third planks in the flotsam that purple the pie chart, always on sight and never a part of the scene. Placing imminent demise neatly to one side, KIWI JR. concentrate on the real Issues: the terrible alliance between King Crab and the timezones; 3D printing causing mass sculptor redundancies; and the playlist at the Duane Reade. After all, who is it we’re really voting for: Spartacus or the dead?”
Despite its cynical and apathetic vibe, “Undecided Voters” is wildly fun-loving and upbeat, using the charm of indie rock to their advantage with colourful hooks and sing-along harmonies as they shout “undecided voters” with each chorus.
Along with the new release, the band is celebrating their signing to legendary label Sub Pop and will be releasing their sophomore album sometime in 2021. For now, you can enjoy the chaotic and bustling music video below:
