ABISHA Promotes Self-Care In New Single “Time Alone”
Since igniting her career in 2017, Devon, UK native ABISHA has been steadily building up a stellar repertoire of pop-focused R&B. Her latest single “Time Alone” is the second taste of new music since her 2020 debut EP Scorpio, and she continues to brings out the best of both worlds, building on it this time with the dance-forward style of Afrobeat; an uplifting combination as she opens up about mental health and the importance of self-care.
“At the time that I wrote this, I would get overwhelmed really easily whether it was emotionally, socially or just because I had a long list of things to do and didn’t know where to start”, the 25-year old songwriter beings. “I feel that Time Alone is a really uplifting song, despite it’s pretty serious and sensitive meaning. I think that afrobeat is a genre that you can’t not dance to, and I haven’t made an afrobeat song before, so it was something that I always wanted to do. I hope that it makes people feel good.”
As the pressures of the world continue to implode and surround everyone around the clock, “Time Alone” is the perfect anthem to find the courage to step away from the world and find some time alone.
“I wrote the song about needing to escape and have a minute to myself when I’m struggling with feeling down or overwhelmed. I wanted to make the song uplifting in order to normalise it and make people feel like it’s okay to feel like that sometimes, we all do. It’s okay to take some time out, bury yourself in your covers and just zone out and breath.”
