Arlo Parks Announces Debut LP; Shares New Music Video For “Green Eyes”
Following her feature on the redux of Glass Animal’s hit single “Tangerine” last week on the band’s live stream performance, Arlo Parks has shared her new single “Green Eyes” and announced her debut album Collapsed In Sunbeams will be out January 29, 2021.
Riddled with candid honesty and her slick combination of melancholic R&B and lo-fi bedroom pop ease, “Green Eyes” is an understanding and heartfelt song about being true to yourself and letting things out of your control sweep past you. Barely out of her teenage years, Parks’ self-awareness and lamenting storytelling help build a strong persona as a blooming young songwriter. “This is a song about self-discovery, self-acceptance and adolescence”, Parks explains. “It is supposed to uplift and comfort those going through hard times.
Naturally, everything Parks seems to touch comes out comforting – her soft vocals make their way across groovy guitar melodies, hazy keyboard rhythms and table-tapping indie beats, creating an easy-going backdrop for introspection.
The accompanying music video matches the dreamy, teenage vibe as Parks cycles through old memories alone.
