Hip-hop Duo Snotty Nose Rez Kids Share New Track “Screaming Indian”
Hip-hop duo Snotty Nose Rez Kids are back with another new single, this time teaming up with fellow British Columbia producers Tarun Nayar (Delh 2 Dublin) and BC-based South Asian trap wave producer Skinny Local for “Screaming Indian”.
“To our knowledge there hasn’t been an Indian and ‘Indian’ (Indigenous) mash-up in Hip-Hop,” Snotty Nose Rez Kids comment on the new track. “It seems like an obvious choice that Indigenous people and Indian people would collaborate, as their histories are intertwined in one colonial historical moment where, thinking he’d reached India, Columbus dubbed the people he sought to conquer and eradicate, ‘Indian’.”
Blending together hip-hop, trap, electronica, and SNRK’s blend of rough-edged vocal commentary, “Screaming Indian” is a powerful and proud call-to-arms against oppression and Canada’s history of racial prejudice and colonialism.
Following their Born Deadly EP released earlier this year, and their newest single “Where They At”, Snotty Nose Rez Kids continue to blow smoke into the face of 2020 with their hard-hitting, resilient style.
