Danielle Durack Works Through A Break-Up WIth New Single “There Goes My Heart”; New LP out Friday
In just two days, Phoenix-based singer-songwriter Danielle Durack will be releasing her new album No Place. Written while working through a break-up, Durack’s vulnerability and emotional contemplation is at the soul of the new record, including her latest single “There Goes My Heart”. The soft-spoken piano ballad is Durack at her most delicate, as the fresh wounds of heartbreak linger across each echoing chord.
“When I wrote this song, I was at a point where every day felt like a mountain to climb”, opens Durack. “Little movements like getting out of bed, making food, social interactions, and other very ordinary things were laborious activities. I wanted to visually encapsulate that feeling of a broken heart and what it looks like in an everyday context“.
With her voice at the forefront, Durack’s fragile delivery is strengthened by her lyrics, using the song as a diary entry of sorts; “There goes my heart / right out the front door” she sings with every chorus.
In the accompanying music video, Danielle keeps things simple and real, as she goes through the motions of a regular day, but with a heavy heart and slowed pace, something universally relatable.
