Black Nash Returns With Latest Single “4 I.O”
After debuting his stellar introductory track “Black Alligator” a few weeks ago, NYC-based indie rock artist Jody Smith has shared his latest feat, “4 I.O” which will be off his upcoming eponymous debut album Black Nash, out February 26th.
The album is a collection of tracks fresh from Smith’s mind following a five-year stint with the US military as he tried to recalibrate his life as a civilian. Unemployed and stuck in lockdown in a new city pushed him to write his new LP, something that slowly came to be during his service but never had the chance to be fully formed.
“4 I.O” is a result of Smith’s pressure cooker situation, fronted in equal parts by his crunchy guitar riffs and his eerily calm vocal performance. There’s an unidentifiable sense of urgency buried in the song’s pace and repetitive nature, but it is blanketed by the upbeat, catchy melodies and riffs from the hands of Black Nash.
Similar to the music video for “Alligator”, this new clip from Smith is equally disoriented with colour changes and non-sensical overlapping edits, adding to his enigmatic songwriting. Watch it below, and pre-order Black Nash via Ramp Local.
