PREMIERE: Alt-Pop Artist VISSIA Shares Electrifying New Music Video For “On My Mind”

Since stepping into the music industry almost a decade ago as one-third of Edmonton-based sister folk trio Vissia Sisters, Alex Vissia has since established herself as a solo act, proudly under the name VISSIA. Her journey as a solo artist was a continuation of her folk stylings, leaning comfortably on her small town Alberta roots, including on her most recent album, 2017’s Place Holder. But as a true creative, VISSIA wanted to revitalize and explore new worlds on her upcoming album With Pleasure.

Bringing ’80s-pop onto the modern day dance floor in line with contemporary stars Dua Lipa, Jesse Ware, and Robyn, VISSIA’s new single “On My Mind” is a celebration of the timeless excitement of the late nights spent at a club with friends amongst strangers.

“‘On My Mind’ is about being in the moment with somebody special and appreciating all of them–mind, body and soul–right here, right now, just as they are”, she explains. “There is no past. There is no future. There is only the eye-locking, breathtaking, sexy, sweaty, fun, beautiful, uncomplicated now”.

Inspired by the unapologetic and carefree choreography of Robyn’s “Call Your Girlfriend”, VISSIA creates her own experience in the new music video. Shot at the end of 2020 in Red Deer, VISSIA did not let the limitations of COVID restrictions minimize the song’s energy and choreographed spirit. While the days of crowded clubs may feel long gone, “On My Mind” is an escape of sorts to the fantasy of carefree nights.
