METZ Celebrate Skateboarding In Video For “Sugar Pill”
Toronto noise rock trio celebrate skateboarding in new music video for “Sugar Pill”
Toronto noise-rock trio METZ put out one of the loudest records of 2020 with their triumphant return, Atlas Vending. As an exploration of adulthood and the fleeting sense of youth, the gritty album was as explosive as it was introspective. From the release is “Sugar Pill”, one of the album’s more bursting tracks on getting older.
Mirroring the song’s theme of escapism and cold realization, the new music video showcases the resilience of skateboarders in snowy winter of Thunder Bay. Director Shayne Ehman says of the video: “Skateboarding feels great. We love to skate. The birds need to sing, we need to skate. I hope the winter skateboarding footage carries with it some of the love we have for skateboarding. I hope it contains a spirit of perseverance and the will to make it happen. Come wind, ice, or stormy weather, we shovel snow, we torch frost, we skate.”
The adrenaline-pumping excitement of skateboarding and heavy music come together as METZ soundtrack the black and white footage below:
